Growing our team with every project

We put as much care into cultivating and growing our team as we do the plants we choose for your garden. Our culture of continuous learning, work ethic and easygoing nature means coming to work isn’t a chore – and this shows in our work and the way we connect with our clients.

Our team is flexible and responsive, we can run multiple crews on different sites and deliver your landscape efficiently.

Hey, I’m Sean

Life doesn’t always go as planned, but I know I am exactly where I want to be.

I’ve always been happiest working outdoors, so after growing up on building sites and working at Farrell's Nurseries, studying landscape design was a natural choice. Fulltime study went on hold while I followed an exciting rugby career with the Blues, Chiefs and Māori All Blacks, but horticulture papers on the side kept feeding my interest.

I knew rugby wasn’t forever, so when I retired earlier than expected due to injury, my passion for landscape design and construction became a business. I’ve taken the skills and values of the rugby field to make Onsite Landscapes something special. Our work is only as good as our team and we give each project everything we’ve got, constantly improving and growing our skills.

Gary de Beer, Design Consultant

For over 50 years, renowned landscape architect Gary de Beer has designed some of the most beautiful gardens in Auckland. As an exclusive design consultant with Onsite Landscapes, our clients benefit from his extensive experience and vast plant knowledge.

Gary has been integral to the success of Onsite Landscapes. From mentoring Sean throughout his training to teaching the team plant care, handling and planting, his influence shows in the way the Onsite Landscape team works every day.

A home for new beginnings

In May 2024, the cosy hobbit house built by a South Auckland landscaper in his back garden was featured on Seven Sharp and 1 News

Lucas de Jong originally visited Sean and Zowie Polwart at home to talk about the hobbit house. This conversation led to a much bigger story of life after a promising rugby career cut short by a life-changing injury and a winding journey to the family Sean and Zowie always wanted. The Onsite Landscapes story is also their story, and the hobbit home playhouse in the garden is a testament to their desire to create a haven for their family and future.
